Il Polyporus umbellatus (Dendropolyporus umbellatus), usato in MTC per o ltre 2500 anni n dalla dinastia Han è conosciuto anche come Zhu ling in MTC. È stato originariamente descritto nello Shen Nong Ben Cao Jing (The Divine Farmer’s Materia Medica Classic) come un rimedio ad azione diuretica, che esplica la sua azione soprattutto in presenza di edemi e disuria. È nominato in varie Materie Mediche dell’antica Medicina Cinese nelle quali era tradizionalmente usato per il trattamento degli edemi e per promuovere i processi di diuresi. Nella “Chinese Pharmacopoeia” (edizione 2010) è debito un rimedio della MTC per trattare edema, nefrite acuta e diarrea (The State harmacopoeia Commission of PR China, 2010).
